Chia JamWho doesn’t love jam? Traditional jam is so high in refined sugar that it can’t be enjoyed as a daily part of your diet. We discovered that chia seeds make a great alternative to sugar in thickening jam – so you get that same jam texture but with none of the bad stuff. This simple 4 ingredient jam is nutritious and delicious and oh so simple to make at home.
250g fruit of choice (we love strawberries, raspberries or blueberries)
2-3 tbsp Chia Bia Whole White Chia Seeds
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp lemon juice
- Wash and chop fruit to preferred size – bigger chunks means a chunkier jam!
- Place the fruit into a saucepan over a medium heat and stir constantly. The fruit will begin to break down in its own juices so there is no need to add water.
- Once it has completely broken down you can take off the heat. Mash at this point if you prefer a finer consistency jam.
- Add the lemon juice, maple syrup and chia seeds and combine well. Allow to stand for at least 5 minutes to cool before transferring to a jar.
Keep stored in the fridge and use within 3 days.
